Recycled Wedding Dress

Handy with a needle and thread? I am, be not as much as these two talented young women in Great Britain. Back in the 90s when they were still teenagers, Annika Sanders and Kerry Seager, scoured local second hand stores for old men’s suits where they transformed them into trendy, one of a kind creations they could wear clubbing. Soon they were making outfits for all of their friends. Since founding their business, “Junky Styling” in 1997, they have surrounded themselves with talented designers who debut their latest fashions at the prestigious London Fashion Week.

These designers encourage you to send them sentimental old clothes that they can recycle into new garments. Their concept is “Everything produced by Junky is recycled from the best quality second hand clothing, deconstructed, re-cut and completely transformed into a new product that belies the former identity of the raw material.” I took these pictures from their gallery of the London Fashion Week Show Spring 2008. This wedding dress is absolutely amazing, especially from the back. We all know back is back, when it comes to wedding gowns!

Can you tell I'm a Project Runway junkie?
