New Satin Cord Edge Veil Colors

A New Year's resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other.

No one knows the author of that incredible quote, but I made my resolutions and some of them do look amazingly familiar: lose 10 pounds by April, spend less time watching Project Runway, and learn how to make classic lemon meringue pie. Good luck to good intentions when we are busy adding new products to Beautiful Bridal.

It’s no secret that the satin cord edge veil is my favorite. It just looks incredible with any type of wedding gown from plain matte satin to Chantilly lace. Besides white and ivory we now have these colors available: light beige, silver, rum pink, wine, royal blue, dark olive, black, light yellow, purple, red and hunter green. So affordable, our waist length 29/35 inch veil is only $69.00.

EnVogue jewelry sets have arrived! Since our EnVogue bridal veils have been so popular, one of our resolutions is to also bring you their collection of bridal tiaras, earrings, brooches and birdcage veils in 2009.

Don’t Let A Bad Economy Ruin Your Wedding Plans

53-85-170. Those were my bowling scores in the family tournament on Christmas afternoon. My last game, six strikes in ten frames. Should have bought a lottery ticket on my way home, maybe two. What does my erratic bowling have to do with YOUR wedding planning? Well, my day started out bad, got a little better and turned out to be the best bowling day of my life.

The economy is bad and they say it’s going to get worse, right-smack-dab in the middle of your wedding planning. One minute you hear about your sister’s boyfriend losing his great job, and then have to decide between buttercream and chocolate ganache the next. Feel guilty about planning a lavish reception when coworkers are getting their last paychecks? You should feel bad, we all do. But then you get back to the business of whether your napkin colors should be white, ivory, sage or periwinkle.

Many couples were married during the Great Depression. Be glad you’re having a wedding now and not then, or you might be stretching old socks over light bulbs to patch the holes, or shaking water into an empty ketchup bottle to stretch your spaghetti sauce. (There was a lot of stretching going on in the 1930s.)

The up side to getting married during hard times is all the value your wedding brings to the community. Photographers, bakers, musicians, florists and bridal consultants take the money you pay them, and pay their mortgages and car payments. Your wedding guests spend an entertaining day and evening with plenty of free salmon canapés and Dom Perignon. Unless you or your fiance suffer a major loss of income, don’t let a bad economy ruin your wedding plans. Seize the day.

Perfect Weddings

A good man, a good bra and a good night's sleep. That's what you need to have a perfect wedding. All three will give you the support you need on your wedding day and every day after. Will your bridesmaids survive without pink leather personalized flasks or your wedding cake without it's own tiara? Will your guests beat a hasty retreat unless they get to make silly faces in a rented photo booth? All this stuff is as much fun as riding the Matterhorn at Disneyland, but none of it will guarantee you the same joy.

Your wedding is just one day after all. As much as I love the products at Beautiful Bridal, without them you can still have the day of your dreams. In my mother's wedding photo, she is dressed in a two piece suit and my father in his Army uniform. Many WWII brides were married this way. My mother-in-law wore a traditional gown, but her wedding cake was made possible by neighbors who pooled their sugar ration coupons together.

Do you buy the hype that the average America wedding costs $27.000? Why would you want to? I would rather have a wedding for ten thousand and invest the rest. When I was a child, our neighbors took out a second mortgage on their home to pay for a lavish wedding for their oldest daughter. In less than a year, she was single again and her parents were still paying for the Dom Perignon.

If something goes wrong, can your wedding still be perfect? Right before my daughter's wedding no one had money to pay the harpist. We all looked at each other in disbelief--no purses, no checkbooks, no cash, no kidding! The photographer stepped forward and offered up his checkbook. The unusual gesture was one of many perfect memories of that day.

Bridal Barbies

Barbie has all the luck. She's a hair shy of 50 and if she were a real woman, would weigh 110 pounds and measure in at 39-18-33. And guess whose beating down her plastic door to design couture bridal gowns for our perky childhood friend? No less than Vera Wang, Bob Mackie, Reem Acra, Monique Lhuillier, Caroline Herrera and your neighborhood David's Bridal. Barbie has been in more wedding gowns than Liz Taylor. And in a wierd twist, Barbie WAS turned into Elizabeth Taylor to commemorate her role in the 1950 movie "Father of the Bride."

Unique Wedding Cakes

Celebrity cakes? Collette Peters of New York City has done it all. Not only does she write books and teach classes, her cakes have made an entrance at parties by Bette Midler, Whoopi Goldberg and the Rolling Stones. The downside to these masterpieces? Rolled fondant and gum paste flowers have a dry, bland taste. You just can't beat old fashioned buttercream icing for a delicious cake. These are all so amazing, it's hard to pick a favorite.
