White Satin and Tulle Flower Girl Dress

You'll probably find a similar sweet dress at David's Bridal for about twice as much as this one I found on Amazon today. A very well made tulle dress with four fluffy layers of tulle and attractive satin bodice. I love Amazon's free shipping (over $35) and easy return options...just in case. Long after your lovely little one has licked the last bit of pink icing from her wedding cupcake and teased and tormented all the boys under the age of 10, she still has a beautiful white party dress for Easter and all her other fun, formal events!

  • Lovely tea length fairytale princess style flower girl dress.
  • Tulle skirt has 4 layers with a crinoline netting is for extra fullness.
  • Detachable flower at the waistline.
  • Adjustable tie sash for comfortable fit.
  • Use again for Communion, Easter and other special occasions.
  • Made in the USA

German Wedding Customs

Although many modern German brides might consider some of these traditional German customs “altmodisch” (old fashioned), they are full of Old World Bavarian charm! Here is a list of German wedding traditions - including hiring an official greeter dressed up with ribbons and roses, to go door to door welcoming invited guests, and a fun and festive Wedding Eve where treasured china is trashed to scare off evil spirits.

Eheringe (Wedding rings) During the engagement period both the bride and groom wear a ring on their left hand, and after the wedding they move it to their right. Usually the rings are gold or silver with no diamonds.

Br√§utkleid (Bride's attire) In Germany, as in the U.S, the bride usually wears white, but German brides wear either very short trains or none at all. If veils are worn they are of fingertip length and typically never worn over the face. Other accessories include a flowery headband with ribbons, tiaras, a little draw string purse and gloves. The custom is for the bride to dress at her home or her parent's home, and be driven to the ceremony.

Die Standesamtliche Trauung (The Wedding) Before a church wedding the bride and groom will have been married in the Standesamt (Registry Office) by a registrar, which is most often in the Rathaus (town hall). A witness is needed for the bride and also for the groom.

Die Kirche-Hochzeit (The Church Wedding) Together, the bride and groom will enter the church and walk down the aisle. Because it is not legal to have only a church ceremony, a Standesbeamte will have already legally married the couple. It is not customary to be attended by bridesmaids, groomsmen or flower girls.

Hochzeitslader This Bavarian tradition has an official inviter clad in fancy clothes decorated with ribbons and flowers going door to door extending a personal rhyming invitation to the invited guests. Guests accept by pinning one of the ribbons to the Hochzeitslader hat and by offering a drink or two at each stop. Should the invited guests be numerous and the Hochzeitslader be of the nature to accept the offered drinks, he may need a day or two to complete his duties!

Polterabend (Wedding Eve) At a party on the evening before the wedding plates and dishes are smashed to scare off evil spirits. Only china can be used. Anything else would bring bad luck. The bride and groom clean up everything to indicate that they can work together.

German wedding custom

Hochzeit-Schuhe (Wedding shoes) The bride collects pennies for years to pay for her shoes and insure that the marriage "gets off" on the right foot.

Reis Werfen (Rice throwing) In this tradition it is said that the amount of rice that stays in the bride's hair is the number of children the couple will have.

Hochzeitssuppe (Wedding soup) The Hochzeitssuppe is made from beef, dumplings and vegetables and the guests eat if from a large bowl.

Eine Weisse Band (A white ribbon) As the guests leave the church the bride gives a white ribbon to each driver of a car in the procession to tie to the radio antenna of the car. This procession then drives through the town honking their horns. Other drivers on the route honk their horns in return to wish the newlyweds good luck in their marriage.

Silk Halter Wedding Gowns

Silk halter wedding gowns - something that Jean Harlow, the "blonde bombshell" of 1930s Hollywood would undoubtedly love. After becoming one of the brightest and most highly paid stars of MGM, she was gone too soon at age twenty six. But the revealing silk gowns that were her personal trademark - continue to inspire designers like Jane Yeh of Auckland, New Zealand today. Jane Yeh's simple and sophisticated wedding gowns are reminiscent of the gowns made for Harlow's fabulous tiny frame. Just a little over five feet tall and 109 pounds, she looked like a sexy, statuesque goddess in her breathtakingly beautiful silk halter gowns.

Ruffled Wedding Gowns

Ruffled wedding gowns - so full, so flowing, so incredibly feminine. My dark and lovely Danielle dreamed of a body hugging mermaid gown with lovely organza ruffles that flared out above the knee and cascaded in soft layers to the floor. We found exactly what she wanted at a privately owned bridal store, well within our budget (under $500). She wore a strapless ivory dress with a gold and silver embroidered bodice, pearls and sequins that sparkled like stars on a cloudless night, and a breathtakingly beautiful ruffled train that made her look so exquisite, she stole our hearts away.

25 Best Slow Dance Songs

Slow dance songs - here are some of the most popular, a list researched and compiled by Rolling Stone Magazine. Even if you're not a big Aerosmith fan, you have to love the hauntingly beautiful Steven Tyler ballad (lyrics by Diane Warren) of "I Don't Want To Miss a Thing" written for the 1998 movie Armageddon.

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure

Fall Wedding Cake Ideas

Fall wedding cakes - with an abundance of lovely autumn colors: chocolate, rust, amber, burnt orange, tangerine, mahogany, emerald, olive, and charming chartreuse. Fall centerpieces abundant with pumpkins and pinecones. Copper colored candles cast a warm glow from inside large Mason jars. The hot days of summer have left and the delicious days of candied apples, hot apple cider with fresh cinnamon sticks and crunchy caramel corn have arrived. Fall weddings are cool and casual, and because they are considered to be in the "off season" a great money saving wedding idea.

Vintage Lace Wedding Dresses

Vintage lace wedding dresses - you find one for less than $100. Is it too good to be true? It all depends on the repairs according to Nancy Eaton, author of “Your Vintage Wedding." Obviously, anything under the dress - no harm done. Missing buttons, broken zippers and loose seams shouldn't keep you from buying that lovely vintage wedding dress. Visible underarm stains - don't even think about it!   Here are some valuable tips for buying a vintage wedding dress or gown and I'd like to add one of my own. Don't assume that a trip to your favorite dry cleaners will change or brighten the overall appearance of the dress, especially with fabric that is 25 years old or more. Sometimes pearls "dissolve" in the cleaning process and leave a small spot that can't be removed.

Irish Wedding Poetry

No doubt my lovely Irish mother, who was born and raised on an emerald green hillside overlooking the Atlantic ocean in County Clare, would be pleased that so many brides are including Irish wedding blessings in their wedding programs. Here is a small sample of the breathtaking beauty of Irish wedding poetry - a love so deep and so true - you'll want to hear it over and over again.

You are the star of each night,
You are the brightness of every morning,
You are the story of each guest,
You are the report of every land.
No evil shall befall you, on hill nor bank,
In field or valley, on mountain or in glen.
Neither above, nor below, neither in sea,
Nor on shore, in skies above,
Nor in the depths.
You are the kernel of my heart,
You are the face of my sun,
You are the harp of my music,
You are the crown of my company.

Couture Wedding Gowns

Couture wedding gowns - you may love them or loathe them but you probably won't forget them. Jean Paul Gaultier, the infamous bad boy of French bridal fashion, designed these eye-popping haute couture wedding gowns. Why is he so special? Long before the bridal industry embraced full figured brides, he was proudly showing off their curves on catwalks and in exhibitions. And ditto for models with body piercings and tattoos. Men he dressed as beautiful women and women he dressed as men. He refused to do what had always been done on fashion runways from Barcelona to Brazil. A French bridal designer with a point of view you won't soon forget.
