Guests That Don’t RSVP

RSVP comes from the French phrase “repondez, s’il vous plait” which means “please reply.” If you can wrap your head around the idea early on that guests will not “respondez” it will save you one or two migraines at least. And if you’ve never had a migraine, checking your email morning, noon, and before and after Project Runway, and stalking your letter carrier for RSVPs will be your ticket to this eye-popping, mind-numbing, don’t-they-know-I’m-paying-fifty-dollars-a-plate experience. Even the promise of Grilled Veal Chops with Potatoes Dauphinoise and all the Tequila Shots this side of Cuernavaca, there is no guarantee that your Uncle Steve will comb his hair and put on a clean tie. It is what it is and if 80% or more of your guests are considerate enough to respond with a “oui” or a “non”, consider yourself well blessed.

Some of these new bridal flower headpieces are as much as six inches in circumference, with organza flowers, feathers, rhinestone and Swarovski crystal stamins. All but two are priced at $40 or less. 1920's Vintage Style Bridal Jewelry

Our new bridal jewelry sets from A A Bridal’s Spring 2010 Collection have arrived and they remind me of vintage bridal pearl jewelry of the sultry 1920s. The era of wedding gowns made from white crepe backed silk satin charmeuse that had a luxurious feel, with a heavy liquid drape that cried out for a perfect set of pearls. Dramatic puff sleeves, white seed bead embroidery, matching satin rosettes with trailing ribbons, you won’t be seeing these again any time soon. But pearls are timeless and it’s about time we made these classy, charming styles new again.

Brownie Pop Wedding Favors

I love Beau Coup’s “Deal of the Day” and if you were looking for cheap themed place cards today you could get them for 20% off the regular price of .80 each. But unfortunately, their freshly baked gourmet brownie pops are not on sale and you could expect to pay $3.55 to $3.75 each depending on the quantity you order. Chocolate covered brownie pops. Can you make them yourself? For around ten dollars you can purchase a Wilton brownie pop silicone mold, and if you use your 40% off coupon from Michael’s, those brownies just got a whole lot cheaper. One 8 x 8 brownie mix will give you 24 brownie pops.

For best results, spray baking surface with non-stick spray. Fill each mold cavity 2/3 fill with batter. Always place bakeware on level baking sheet for easy positioning and removal from oven, refrigerator or freezer. Bake according to recommended temperature on recipe for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven and carefully insert cookie sticks into brownies. Continue baking for 10 to 15 minutes or until brownies test done. Place pan on cooling grid and cool completely. To remove baked goods, invert pan and apply gentle pressure to the bottom while gently peeling the pan away.

Feather Hair Flowers

Fastest selling products in 2009? Wedding hair flowers, second to none. The demand for S2182 was so great, it seemed like every one of my brides from mid July to the end of September wanted one of these beige hair flowers, priced at only $36. And S2165 is always a perennial favorite. The black and white picture doesn’t even begin to tell the story. This pale ivory organza flower (almost white) with natural feather petals and clear rhinestone center sits on a 2 1/2" bobby pin and at only $54 is an affordable bridal headpiece that looks so feathery fabulous on my model, Karen.

Rhinestone Wedding Bracelets

We’ve been waiting for this. Vintage style bracelets, made with cubic zirconia and clear rhinestones, six to seven inches long with a one-inch adjustable chain. What took so long? In recent years KING KONG sized bracelets added the necessary bling to plain matte satin strapless gowns of the past fifteen years or so. Simply put, we just didn’t like them. Now that there’s a race for bridal lace, smaller bridal bracelets have found their way back into our hearts and on to Beautiful Bridal. At $30 or less, these make perfect silver bridesmaid bracelets, gift boxes included.
