Grandma and Grandpa aren't exactly Romeo and Juliet. She says the man on the moon has more personality than him. He says her meatloaf is outlawed in all fifty states. But once, they too were in their twenties. He was six foot two, she was slim and sassy. He was a handsome American soldier who passed his free time in a bar where she worked overseas in Brisbane, Australia. The poor country boy from rural Oklahoma and the sophisticated Irish girl serving beer in her rich uncle's hotel, tried their best to make it work. And many times failed. That was the beginning of their story...my family story, in all honesty. Their somewhat mismatched marriage made my happy one possible. I give them thanks, today and every day.
